Are Asians really the model minority? Tests have shown that Asians often fail to reach senior leadership positions in corporate America because of this so-called “Curse of the Model Minority.” Wes Hom, national board officer and managing director of Ascend, as well as co-developer of Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business Asian Leadership Program, came to Hanhai’s San Jose site to speak about this issue. Wes brought up various important points we, as professionals, should consider: Where are the Asians throughout leadership teams of global corporations? What skills are needed to overcome these barriers or defy the stereotypes? This seminar proved to be highly interactive and informative.
